How To Save Money This Winter

Make your own lunch

Rather than buying meal deals, make your own lunches. If you want something hot to warm you up in the winter, you can save money by batch cooking meals to heat up for lunches, which will save a significant amount of energy in comparison to cooking individual meals every day. Extra points (and more importantly savings) for using a slow cooker or air fryer!

Remember to close doors behind you

While many of us have been determined to wait until temperatures have reached unbearable lows to put the heating on, the recent frosty mornings and warnings of snow have not left us with much choice. To savour this heat, put it on for an hour in the morning and make sure all of your doors stay closed to retain the warmth. You could even get yourself a draft excluder to make sure the heat stays in the room you are in.

If you work from home, set up your desk in a small room

On a similar note, if you spend a lot of the day at home, think carefully about which room you are based in, as smaller rooms will be a lot warmer and you may be able to rely on an electric heater alone to help you save on the central heating bill.

Be mindful with how you use your vehicle

Rises in fuel prices are significantly contributing to the cost of living crisis and making vehicle ownership expensive. While it may seem contradictory for a money-saving article to suggest buying a vehicle, having a more fuel efficient motor could actually save you a lot of money in the long run, especially when you part exchange your current vehicle. Newer and smaller cars and vans are generally far more cost effective to run. We may have a second hand van for sale at Cheshire Vehicle Supplies that is able to meet your needs and save you money.

Make sure your tyres are pumped up

While we are on the subject of vehicles, making sure that your tyres are filled with the correct amount of air will make them more efficient and save you money. Try and get into the habit of filling them up regularly!
