In terms of vans, Mercedes-Benz is best known for its Ford Transit rival, the Sprinter. However, the Vito is an equally reliable and capable van that fits in at a building site as well as it does in the city thanks to that prestigious badge!

Mercedes-Benz Vito vans are offered in three lengths, all of which are 140mm longer than the equivalent variant of the previous version of the Vito. The maximum gross vehicle weight ranges from 2,500kg to 3,200kg depending on configuration, with the most capable model able to carry a payload of up to 1,350kg. Maximum cargo volumes range from 5.5m3 to 6.6m3.

One of the biggest changes from the pre-2015 Vito is the 1.6 litre diesel engine. It’s the same one found in the Renault Trafic offering either 88hp or 114hp. This means that if you want to, you can considerably lower the price from the 2.1-litre diesel engine which offers either 136hp or 190hp all in rear drive only. The 1.6 diesel powerplant is ideal for cross town journeys and local jobs, with impressive body control and extremely well-judged steering weight. Mercedes-Benz Vito vans are also capable of carrying you long distance in comfort too; you’d expect as much from a distant S-Class cousin!

There’s plenty of useful technology on offer including crosswind assistance, hill start assist, load adaptive control and an anti-rollover system. Two airbags are included as standard, with up to eight in the Tourer model. For those who choose the trailer coupling, trailer stability control is also a standard feature!

Mercedes-Benz Vito vans benefit from a car like cabin, with a multi-functional steering wheel, electronic parking brake and sat-nav in some models. It comfortably seats three, even on long journeys and the build quality is as you’d expect from the premium brand.
