Renault Master Review
The Renault Master is a relatively new addition to the large van sector. Debuting in 2010, it’s built on a shared platform with the Vauxhall Movano and the Nissan NV400.
This chassis enables Renault to supply a range of different markets, from 4x4 conversions to gross vehicles weights of up to 4.5 tonnes. Renault Master models are available in Business and Business+ specifications that now feature across the firm’s van lines. A special Formula Edition that connects the Master to Renault's Formula One team is also available in selected versions.
Every Renault Master van is powered by the same 2.3-litre dCi diesel engine, producing up to 130bhp with a single turbo or a maximum of 170bhp in twin turbo trim. These engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox across the range. A Quickshift6 automatic transmission is available however, only for the 170bhp engine in front-wheel drive mode.
Inside the cabin, Renault’s interior design prowess is obvious, a well thought out cabin offers plentiful storage space for the driver and two passengers. The dual-passenger seat cushion lifts up to provide a large storage space where valuable items can be put away out of sight. The MediaNav screen is mounted above the windscreen to minimise distractions, the system itself works well and the infotainment system is simple to understand.
Crew van models are fitted with seven seats and a full-height bulkhead. A range of adjustment for the driver’s seat and steering wheel means most drivers will be able to find a comfortable driving position.
Renault Master vans are ideal vehicle for any tradesman looking for their next workhorse. A range of models and features mean the van can be truly specified to suit you and your tasks perfectly.
